Bright Blue Jay

I took this photo at my feeders. The blue jay is standing on a garden gnome, if you can see it. My brother John told me to blog this. What I love about blue jays is their feathers. The bright blue and black and white make a stunning combination! But, sometimes blue jays can be bullies as all of you birders know. "Pretty blue jay, stay a while..."

Sleeping Dog

I took this photo because of the lighting; you know, the way the light filters in through the window. I put Finn to the side, because my dad once took a picture of himself and my grandmother, and they were both off to the side. I made the shadows stand out to make the light coming through the window more visible. The day I took this photo, it was very bright outside, so the lighting was perfect, dark house, bright yard.

Sitting Dog

This is my dog, Homer George Connolly. (First and middle and last name.) This photo was taken on Christmas Eve, so that is why you see the tree in the backround. I put a little glow and soft focus on this photo on picasa. I used a treat to get his attention and make him look the other way. New lesson: sometimes the best photos are taken when you are fooling around.

Woodpecker and Nuthatch Eating

"Eat, eat, yum, yum. It's okay, we can share, for you eat what I eat. C'mon, come and eat, it's okay, I don't bite," says Woodpecker. It's true, nuthatches eat what woodpeckers do, so they often share food at my feeders. Now, as you can see, Nuthatch is staying away from Woodpecker... which is normal. Birds are often wary of each other so, they don't go to close to other birds at they're first encounter. This is also cool because woodpeckers and nuthatches are two of my favorite birds.

Watching Dog

Squirrel!? This is my dog Finn, or as I like to call him, one of my bubbies, which is a mix between these two words: buddy and puppy. As I was taking photos of birds in my backyard, (Finn was next to me) and Finn was looing out the window at a squirrel, so I snapped a couple of shots of him. I love Finn's eye color, don't you?

Gray Cat

This is my grandmother's cat.His name is Oscar. Most of my family think he is evil, (especaily my dad) but I like Oscar.I can connect with him. My dad took this picture, which is weird because my dad doesn't like Oscar. I like Oscar... a lot. But not as much as my grandmother does.

Peaceful Red-Winged Blackbirds

Out in the wild tundra, you'll find me... making peace with others... creating hope for all. I won't stop till I die, for that is my life. This photo is of three red-winged blackbirds and, in the corner of the photo, a mourning dove. To me red-winged blackbirds are very peaceful, because I have never seen them fighting with other birds at my feeders. This was actually taken in my front yard, not the wild tundra.

Silent Chickadee

This photo is a chickadee perching on our young japanese maple tree. If you look at this photo closely, you can see how the feet curl around the branch. This type of chickadee is a black-capped chickadee, not a carolina chickadee... well of course, it would have to be, seeing we don't see many of them! I am entering this photo in a photo contest too.

Spike Plant

This is a very cool "Spike Plant". Isn't it? I'm entering a photo contest so I decided to try and get some good shots & what do ya know? There's a good shot right here, isn't there? To me it does kind of look a little creepy because it looks like midevil flail. Now of course this plant is dead, because it's the middle of winter. However... it does look very pretty!

Walking Pheasent

My family and I were driving home from NH and my dad suddenly yells PHEASENT and makes the car jerk. He then goes over to the other lane, pulls over on the side of the road, and helps me take some photos of it. At first we thought the pheasent was ingoured because it wasn't trying to get away from us, but then it walked into the woods. Now, look at the feather patterns! So pretty, well ring-necked pheasents are very pretty!
